- The tank, set in its place.
- Enclosing the tank in a brick structure protects the tank from the sun, and keeps the water inside cool.
We tried to dig wells, but discovered on exploration that the water tables in Nakivale are too depleted. So the water reclamation tanks are Plan B. They work very well. The water here is not potable. It will give you parasites if you drink it untreated. So the solution is to catch rainwater. They will put a roof on that tank. They will run PVC pipe from the guttering on the roof of the nearby building. This will divert all the rainwater into the tank. Because the water never touches the ground, it remains clean. Apart from a slight plastic flavor imparted by the tank, the water is clear, cold, and most important, clean. This provides safe drinking water for our church members. It also supplies the water we require for baptisms. These tanks are a great blessing in a country where water borne diseases sicken and sometimes kill people.
